We’re devoted advocates for mental health awareness here at Tedd’s Health and Fitness. We believe in looking after the mind just as much as looking after the body. Almost everyone that arrives at Tedd’s has something to share about mental health, whether that be losing a loved one to mental health struggles, or the difficulties accompanied with maintaining their own mental health. Despite experiencing a time where mental health is being taken more seriously, it’s a topic we’re extremely passionate about and it’s one we plan to discuss at every given opportunity.
So many elements found in our day-to-day lives will have an impact on our mental state, from work, to our relationships and ultimately our expectations of how our lives should be. What it can sometimes all boil down to is a lack of control, or what may appear to be a lack of control. We set these expectations of ourselves and we assume that everyone else has these same expectations of us, which can inevitably lead to bottling up our emotions, problems and what’s troubling us.
We feel we have a duty as a health and fitness brand to not only educate, but provide a safe space for discourse to be had. We’re also extremely proud at Tedd’s to have created a space that in and of itself combats mental health struggles and that we hope can be somewhat a saviour to our members.
Any form of consistent exercise can have a noticeable knock-on effect for one’s mental health. Physical activity has been proven to increase the production of the brain’s endorphins, it’s something you consciously implement in your life, and you can control it too. Aside from its physical benefits, the sheer presence of regimented physical exercise in your life has an endless positive impact on mental stability. Physical exercise can be a distraction from the day-to-day, it can give a new found purpose, or fill a void. There are no expectations when it comes to physical exercise and there are certainly no expectations at Tedd’s. Whether the gym is a daily fix or a once-a-week trip, it will undeniably result in positive repercussions.
At Tedd’s our door is propped open for everything mental health because we’ve suffered ourselves, and we have our own loved ones who have suffered too. So, we’ve pledged ourselves to our Tedd’s Champions to be more than just a gym, but a shoulder to cry on, a set of ears ready to listen, and a friend. If you’re seeking help, we’ve attached to this article the avenues you can take and the places to seek help should you need it.
