Gym etiquette at Tedd’s Health and Fitness

Gym etiquette at Tedd’s Health and Fitness

We believe at Tedd’s that following the written and unwritten rules is what can make or break a gym. An uplifting gym atmosphere and a clean, accessible gym floor can only be achieved through the members and the members alone. As a health and fitness establishment it’s our solemn duty to promote the right etiquette so that our gym is as safe and as welcoming an environment as we know you deserve to have. In this post you can learn more about the gym etiquette dos and don’ts at Tedd’s Health and Fitness.

A neat and tidy Tedd’s

Let’s start at our expansive free weights section at Tedd’s. Comprised of a long rack of dumbbells, various benches, barbells and plates, it’s priority number one that our Tedd’s champions keep this area as organised as possible. The dumbbells are placed on the rack in ascending order, from lightest to heaviest. Once you’ve finished a set or wrapped up an exercise; we encourage all members to return the weights to the exact spot they’re assigned to. Nobody likes wandering the gym floor aimlessly for the right dumbbells because they’re not where they should be. Health and safety is paramount at Tedd’s, so leaving our dumbbells lying around for someone to trip over is a big no no, every experience at Tedd’s should be a safe and easy one.

Looking after Tedd’s

We’ve always wanted Tedd’s to feel special, and the equipment we have on offer is such a huge player in making this dream a reality. It’s because of this that we are so outspoken on our gym space being respected and treated with nothing but care. Our equipment isn’t invincible, but it can last a heck of a long time if it’s looked after right. We bestow a simple ethos; if you’re strong enough to lift it, then you’re strong enough to put it down. We don’t want to see the dumbbells being hurled to the ground, or machines being clanged with dangerous force. Without the equipment, there is no Tedd’s. Not only do we care deeply about the longevity of the gym equipment but we also strive to promote inclusivity and maintain a welcoming, unintimidating gym atmosphere. There can be nothing more off-putting, especially for newcomers, than witnessing other gym users thrashing around equipment and abusing the gym space.

Keeping Tedd’s clean

The COVID-19 Pandemic played an impactful role in the story of Tedd’s Health and Fitness, we overcame some hefty challenges and learned a hell of a lot. The health in “health and fitness” should be prioritised just as much as the fitness, that’s why we’ll promote hygiene and cleanliness until for all time. Many of the policies and resources that were mandatory during the course of the Coronavirus Pandemic are still in place at Tedd’s, they are optional now but still highly encouraged. Pandemic or not we advise all members to wipe down equipment after use, whether that be with a towel you’ve brought from home, or one of our cloths and antibacterial sprays that are stationed around the gym floor. We employ all Tedd’s members to leave the equipment in a state they’d hope to find it.

Looking after your Tedd’s brothers and sisters

Tedd’s is a family, and family looks out for each other. One of our most important unwritten commandments at Tedd’s is that you look out for one another, share the equipment and help thy neighbour whenever and wherever you can. Tedd’s Health and Fitness can certainly get busy, especially during those traditional peak gym hours. It’s during these busier spells where it can be tough to get on the piece of equipment you want, and no one likes to break regime. We urge all of our members to just take a minute from time to time, if someone is waiting for the machine you’re on, maybe tag them in in between your sets. It’s this self-awareness among gym-goers that we believe the fitness world sorely lacks these days, and it’s a small attitude adjustment that goes a real long way. Keep your eyes out for fellow Tedd’s Champions in need, maybe someone looks like they’d appreciate a spotter, it’s interactions like these that builds new relationships and also cements Tedd’s as a positive and wholesome fitness environment.

Give your all at Tedd’s and get everything back

Our final, closing words of wisdom when it comes to etiquette at Tedd’s are simple.; when you walk through our doors, you take a vow to give every session everything you’ve got. We raise winners at Tedd’s, whatever the goal or ambition it can be achieved within our 4 walls, just as long as our members have the drive to make it happen.

Proper etiquette is vital to any balanced gym space, it’s why people keep coming back. At Tedd’s it’s an essential component we do not neglect and it’s all in the name of our members; the Tedd’s Champions.
